Fertilab provides fresh perspective on co-working for Mindbox Studios in Eugene

Collaborative workspaces in the form of incubators, accelerators, and co-ops (to name a few) have found a niche among this country’s more startup-friendly cities.  The logistics make sense: office space is expensive for a small team, and subletting is nothing new, but I just can’t get enough of the resourceful community approach being practiced in many of these workspaces.  Many of these groups are going far above and beyond simply providing desk-space to include mentorship opportunities, resources, and support to their members to help them succeed.  These organizations are empowering communities by providing new businesses with greater opportunities to develop and succeed, meaning more jobs and a more steady economy for the next generation.

Not only has a form of this community-style office engagements been useful to many of the clients of Mindbox Studios, but we also utilize co-working spaces for all 3 of our main offices and we’ve become big advocates.  We take a really similar approach of mentorship and support with our clients, and so the mindset resonates.

About 2 months ago our Eugene team decided to join the Fertilab Thinkubator community.  Over the short course of a year Fertilab has gathered significant momentum, and has branched out from the initial focus in DIYbio to even include a workspace for product prototyping and the engineering community.

What has stood out the most for us with the Fertilab team is their desire to continually evolve and increase the value they provide as a resource to local entrepreneurs.  We believe in their mission, and are excited to be a part of the larger initiative.

Here are a few ways that Fertilab Thinkubator is currently supporting the EugeneSpringfield community:

  • Encouraging economic development by providing office space and mentorship resources for small businesses and startups
  • Providing the Eugene community with affordable access to a biotech lab and services
  • Raising awareness about local startup initiatives
  • Hosting events and educational opportunities, most of which are free

In case you missed our announcement earlier this summer, our Denver headquarters is now at Gavanize, another inspiring collaborative workspace which we thoroughly enjoy.
