Defining the Problem
Apps That Empower
Brett Keppler had an idea that he felt would change the game for real estate agents. We have lots of apps that help us do things more efficiently but few that were helping me to empower my team to deliver an incredible home buying experience. Mindbox worked with me from the beginning, helping to refine the process and ultimately executing on a great product. I was able to raise venture capital and now my business is taking off.
Brett says, "Being a service business, I understand the importance of making your customer feel like they are the only one you are working with and Mindbox achieves this very well. Not only do I feel like I have a development company working just for me, but I feel like I’m not alone on what can be a very isolated journey of starting up a company."
The Story As Told by Brett Keppler
Brett’s start-up story is that of a typical first time start-up with dreams of changing the world with a brilliant idea. During his initial consultation with Mindbox, he discussed an idea which was far-reaching and at the end of the day, impractical for him as a business owner. Mindbox took the time to work with Brett and to refine his idea to get a better understanding of the target market existed for this software.
He never paid a dime up front
We had several conversation over many months before I ever paid them a dime. Had Mindbox not taken the time in the beginning to set me up to succeed, I would have surely failed early on.
“Being a service business, I understand the importance of making your customer feel like they are the only one you are working with and Mindbox achieves this very well. Not only do I feel like I have a development company working just for me, but I feel like I’m not alone on what can be a very isolated journey of starting up a company.” – Brett Keppler
“I strongly recommend Mindbox to anyone who has a dream and cares about it enough to not screw it up.”
After working through the story planning phase and multiple design and development sprints, Mindbox launched Nekst in July of 2014 as an open beta. People loved the product and Brett was able to work on Nekst full time.
500K in Angel Investments
With a minimum viable product in hand, he was able to secure $550,000 in seed investments to kickstart an open beta for Nekst.
Second Place At Cincinnati Innovates
The Cincinnati startup community embraced Nekst as a legitimate product. Mindbox was able to coach Brett step by step through the process of building a pitch deck and establishing an effective way to communicate the value of the Nekst platform.
Over 300 Active Beta Users
The numbers don’t lie: the Nekst user base is growing like wildfire. Beta users have been testing the product and helping the Nekst team to innovate on new features like Agent Metrics.
